The weekly owner’s review: 30 minutes that run your week

A checklist for business owners to look back, look ahead and get organized every week.

The busiest owners are often the least organized because they never stop to look at the whole picture. Block thirty minutes at the same time each week, Friday afternoon or Sunday evening, and work through this list.

Be thou diligent to know the state of thy flocks, and look well to thy herds. (Proverbs 27:23, KJV)

Look back (10 minutes) - What were my three biggest wins this week? - What did not get done, and why? - What did I learn from a customer or my team? - Check the numbers: sales, cash in the bank, money owed to you, money you owe.

Clear the decks (10 minutes) - Empty your inbox to a short list of real actions. - Move every loose note, text and sticky note into your to-dos. - Review open to-dos: do it, schedule it, delegate it or delete it. - Check for anything overdue that needs a message today.

Look ahead (10 minutes) - Open next week's calendar. Add reminders to anything important. - Choose the one result that would make next week a success. - Block time for it before anything else fills the space. - Name the biggest decision you need to make, and when. - Check your vision board deadlines. Is each goal moving?

Close with prayer Thank God for the week, hand him next week, and rest.

The thoughts of the diligent tend only to plenteousness; but of every one that is hasty only to want. (Proverbs 21:5, KJV)
